FAQs
EUR/USD, also written as EURUSD, shows how many US dollars are needed to buy one euro.
EUR is the base currency and USD is the quote currency. For example, if EUR/USD is trading at 1.15, one euro is worth 1.15 US dollars.
If EUR/USD rises, the euro is strengthening against the US dollar. If it falls, the dollar is strengthening against the euro.
The euro is the official currency of 21 EU countries and is managed through monetary policy set by the European Central Bank (ECB). The US dollar is managed through monetary policy set by the Federal Reserve.
EUR/USD is the world's most actively traded currency pair, accounting for around 21% of global foreign exchange turnover in the BIS April 2025 survey.
What is EUR/USD CFD trading?
EUR/USD CFD trading lets you trade movements in the euro-US dollar exchange rate without exchanging or taking delivery of either currency.
You can open a long EUR/USD position if you expect the euro to strengthen against the dollar, or a short position if you expect the dollar to strengthen against the euro.
Forex CFDs are traded using margin, so you only need to put up a portion of the position's full value. Leverage increases your market exposure and can magnify both profits and losses.
With Axi, one standard EURUSD lot represents EUR 100,000, while smaller trade sizes are also available.
